I love food, and as a whole, pretty much anything edible. Well, last night I finally ate at our local Vegan restaurant, Darbster. Currently being a vegetarian, with no urge to get back into meat, yet, I was excited to get in here.
Darbster is located in South FL, and it is predominantly an outdoor restaurant. The indoor area doesn’t seem to have air conditioning either. Regardless of this, I was comfortable the entire time, even if my 21 month old son wouldn’t sit down, or kept wanting to throw my keys around the place. He was done and ready to get to gymnastics. I don’t blame him for that. That bouncy mat is the bomb.
The menu is pretty nice, though for my taste, seems better suited on the appetizer and dessert side of things. Saying that, I chose an entree. And damn if I didn’t chose the best Chile Relleno I have had in years, at least 10 years. I can’t recall the last time I had one this good. The beans and brown rice where done well, but the Chile, with its delightful sauce just stole the show. Well done. Bravo.
We ended our dinner with a Chocolate mousse that is made out of god-knows-what, but is absolutely insane on the taste buds. I devoured over half of it I think before my wife had a chance to dig in. Yum city. Some of the desserts coming out to other tables were worth salivating over as well. Note to self: get back for more.
A quick look at the wine list had me intrigued, didn’t seem to come off as the same ole crap you find at most every restaurant in town. There was a Gruner, a Riesling, and a ZA Chenin Blanc, a Prosecco, a Rose, and a CdR. So very refreshing to see this kind of variety on a very short wine list.
So get out and give it try if you are in Palm Beach County. I think you’ll dig it.

After this I jammed over to gymnastics with the youngin, where he proceeded to show me how bad ass he is and how he likes to drum, drum, drum, on every single thing he touches. It was the highlight of my day to hang on the bars, bounce on the tramp, and walk on the beam with the little nut.
