Rain. Lots of rain. A weeks worth, yet still the ground would dry out before the clouds parted. That is what a drought will do, suck up the rain and then turn back to concrete.
Jay was sitting on a newspaper rack outside Kenny’s Market waiting for a ride. Head full of Red Bull. Pete was late, as always. Probably arguing with his lady. Hopefully not drunk in and jail. Jay just wanted to get to the gun show before it closed for the weekend. He had saved a little bit of money from a landscape job, and wanted to roam the grounds of the show. Think about his wife a little and complications surrounding a drought of different kind.
Seek out an answer, conjure up some rain.

When Jay wound up on the other end of the horn just after the work bell, giving Pete the word that it was time to get the band back together, Pete was ecstatic.
“Tonight!”, Jay exclaimed.
Not until he opened his closet door did he recall the day he pawned his 84 Squier Telecaster. Crack is some serious shit. Rabbit hole to hell. Brushing off the burn, he grabbed his acoustic.
Ten minutes later he had missed his turn and was stuck behind a 3 car wreck going the wrong way. Gregorian Monks bellowed from the raspy speakers of his 86 Sentra. If NPR was good for one thing, Pete thought, it was chanting Monks and a feeling that 1565 was just a spin of the dial away.
Jay and the band tuned up with a “Beer Barrell Polka”.
Pete idled into another century, blissful.

Once again, balance, but of a different sort. And a dive into uncharted territories.
1. Still feeling damn good about the lack of coffee in my diet. Had a few cups, and am fine with it. 3 in 3.5 weeks keeps me motivated.
2. My buddy Blake and I had been discussing trying to play some tunes together. We each play guitar a little bit. Why do so many people just do the guitar. I’m getting a bass. So, we hooked up at my crib while TnT were out of town. Things went pretty well. Worked on, but never solidified; “The Weight”, “Farmhouse>NoWomanNoCry>Farmhouse”, “Little Sadie” and “Isis”. Those were the only things we actually got to sounding like songs. Big fun, and we are one again tonight. Drummer included. *fingers crossed* for just a little magic. One song.
3. One step closer to getting back into taking the ARE. Whether you know it or not, I love the nature of design and more so, the client interaction side of Architecture, which is were i spend a lot of time. I just cannot stand the “profession” and feel like it continues to sell itself short, not protected itself, and is really an abomination of what it should and used to be. I am constantly amazed at the number of clients who fail to find the value associated with the fees they pay. Maybe more on this later. I plan to blog about the studies as well. Look out ARE.
4. Missed only my second home game of the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers this past Saturday. We had a pool partythat lasted longer that we thought, so we chilled at home, got the boy down early after no nap, and kicked back with the Gold Cup final. Good God, did Bornstein get exposed. Why Bradley switched Lichaj to the other side is beyond me. Take way though from the series, Freddie Adu is back and here to stay. WOOT! WOOT!
5. Oh yeah, and my SIWBM continues on. That is ‘Self imposed Wine Buying Moratorium” for the newbs. It is needed. We have a jack load of bills from little man’s emergency room visit a few weeks ago. Looking for a sponsor if you know any.
Get out and do good things.
That is all. Cheers!

As I sit here with a wee bit off rum on my lips, I am in thought of the newness each day tends to bring.
1. This wack a doodle toddler we have changes all the time. Defiant this past week beyond belief, yet so loving at the same time. Balance and equilibrium.
2. the new dealings with the asthma has brought on issues i never thought before. Super drought in Florida, over 420 wildfires burning. The county gets rated worst air in the country yesterday. Dr calls and say T should not be outside. Hell, the air even made me coughy and dry.
3. Supplements. We have a regiment he is going to get on. Magnesium, Vit. C, a multi, I can recall what else. Things that should help any future problems.
4. Nebulizers. Boy does he hate use this treatment, though once settled in he manages. Both of us figuring out how to go along with the changes. The nebu should be over soon, just maintenance through this smoky period it seems.
now fun stuff…
5. Skeeter is in bikram and loving it. I’m on the fence about getting into something, but can’t figure out what.
6. I’m almost two weeks off coffee. The longest hiatus since I was 7. Feels pretty damn amazing, though i miss sweet and bitter slurps of heaven.
7. Over one month now with very little beer. I’d say 8 glasses in the last 5 weeks. This is another substantial decline in consumption.
8. We both finished a cleanse, of which we are gonna do another real soon. I think we both lost a little weight(i have almost none to loose), and look and feel better.
9. Drank a Mas Conscience Carignan last night with a little gluten free pizza. Both were fantastic. The wine is bio-dynamic, and of the three bottles I have had, this one is the best so far. The gluten free is along the beer and coffee in effort to evaluate my psoriasis. See what it feeds on, or does not. No sign yet. it is softer it seems.
10. Leftover rum on your lips reminds me of Halloween for some reason.
11. I’d love to try a total ‘off alcohol’ month. hmmm, maybe august. for my birthday.
Cheers all.

up and down, easy and tough, so is life. stay on that horse and keep riding.
1. The Ft. Lauderdale Strikers played to an awesome win against the Puerto Rico Islanders last Saturday. TBone felt good getting crazy and drumming with the Ultras. Behind a drum and behind a book are where he seems the most at home.
2. All that joy dumped on the Strikers and Ft. Lauderdale when the FAA pretty much threatened to take away the stadium after June. Follow more on that at Football in Miami and Beyond
3. Alcee Hasting did a fine job as our Representative to write a letter of concern to the FAA regarding the situation. Thanks you sir.
4. TBone pulled 5 days in a row in the pool, and was progressing well with losing his fear and just over all bravery in the water, Very impressed I am. Then..
5. On Wednesday we wound up in the hospital, TBone with a severe and major asthmatic reaction to something. He was pretty much closed down by the afternoon, and we were told that if we hadn’t brought him in he may not have made it through the night. Initial nebulizer treatments were only lasting 45 minutes. Way closed down, and we had no idea.
6. Until you know what to look for in any new situation, you may not even know what is happening. Amazing. If he was already slightly asthmatic, then the chlorine in the pool could have been the proverbial straw.
7. We are constantly learning. If you are not, then you might as well stop living.
8. I love my family, how my wife and I each find the right ways to balance out any given situation and each other. This was a rough few days, yet we are home.
9. Side note: we had started a cleanse at the beginning of this week. That got shot to hell(though not fully) come Hospital night and Thursday. I have hopes of kick starting it again maybe tomorrow or Monday. We will see.
10. Say your “I love you’s” and give those hugs man. That detour sign can jump up and slam you in the face with a vengeance. Smile.
